Fields, Flavor, & Craft
An afternoon immersion that will change how you think about lavender. Walk the fields. Taste the harvest. Make something beautiful.
View Dates & BookMost people think lavender is one thing. An afternoon at Bloomfield Schoolhouse Lavender Farm will change that entirely. Guided by Marion, the grower who built this farm from the ground up out of equal parts curiosity and stubbornness, you'll discover a plant most people only think they know.
Trace lavender's 4,000-year journey from Egyptian burial chambers to Victorian medicine cabinets. Learn why not all lavender is safe to eat, which varieties belong in your kitchen, and pick up the growing tips that actually work for northern Indiana soil and winters.
Two Acts, One Unforgettable Afternoon
In the Fields
Walk the lavender rows and explore varieties like Phenomenal, Royal Velvet, Hidcote, Vera, and the rare white Edelweiss. Rub stems between your fingers and learn to read the differences: the sweetness of an English lavender, the bold oil of a lavandin hybrid, the surprise of a rare white variety.
In the Apothecary
Step into our beautifully restored historic building, stocked with the farm's own handcrafted goods. Put what you've learned to work creating your own lavender-infused keepsake while tasting lavender treats made with varieties grown right here on the farm.
