Country Living named Bloomfield Schoolhouse Lavender a must-visit stop in Indiana's Amish Country. Here's the story behind the feature and what you'll find at our LaGrange apothecary.

Country Living Just Featured Our Little Indiana Lavender Farm
I never set out to be in a magazine.
When my family and I planted our first lavender rows on this old Indiana farmstead, the goal was simple: grow something beautiful, make something worth sharing, and see where it led. What started as a family project grew into fields, then products, then a little apothecary tucked into a restored 1887 building on Spring Street in LaGrange.
So when Country Living reached out to feature us, I had to read the email twice.
What Country Living Said
In June 2026, Country Living published "11 Best Things to Do in Indiana's Amish Country," spotlighting Shipshewana and the surrounding LaGrange County region as a genuine travel destination. Alongside Amish bakeries, antique auctions, and horse-and-buggy rides, they included a stop right here in LaGrange:
"In LaGrange 10 miles away, stop by Bloomfield Lavender Apothecary's storefront in a restored 1887 building, complete with its original tin ceiling. Owner Marion Wiggins and her family harvest and dry lavender from around 7,400 plants and then make and sell more than 65 different products from bath salts to lip balms to sleep spray, as well as candles and teas made in collaboration with other local makers."
That paragraph means more to me than I can easily put into words. Not because of the recognition, but because it captures exactly what we hoped to build: something rooted in this place, made by this family, shaped by this community.
LaGrange, Indiana Is Worth the Trip
If you haven't visited LaGrange County, this is a good excuse. The region is home to one of the largest Amish communities in the country, and the pace here is genuinely different. Slower. Quieter. The kind of place where you leave feeling more settled than when you arrived.
Shipshewana anchors the area with its weekly antique auction, handmade goods, and Amish home cooking. LaGrange is just 10 miles away and worth the short drive. Walk Spring Street, step inside our apothecary, and stay for the kind of afternoon that doesn't have an agenda.
