The Bloomfield Schoolhouse Groundbreaking Is August 11

Something We Have Been Working Toward for a Long Time

On Tuesday, August 11 at 3pm, we are breaking ground on the final phase of the Bloomfield Schoolhouse restoration. After years of planning, fundraising, and patience, Marion and Greg have secured the funding needed to complete the interior of the 1904 building, and we are ready to begin.

We would love for you to be there.

What This Phase Means

The Bloomfield Schoolhouse has been part of this property since 1904. It has stood through more than a century of Indiana seasons, and for the past several years it has been part of Marion and Greg's vision for what Bloomfield could become. The exterior restoration brought the building back to life. This final interior phase is what finishes the story.

When the work is complete, the schoolhouse will open as a space for community events and gatherings. It will also serve the farm directly, giving us a proper home for drying and storing lavender from the fields each season. The hope is to have it finished this fall or early winter.

Join Us on August 11

The groundbreaking ceremony begins at 3pm at 3020 US-20, LaGrange, IN 46761. It will be brief, meaningful, and open to anyone who wants to share the moment with us. This building has been part of the LaGrange community for over a hundred years. We think that deserves a proper celebration.

After the ribbon cutting wraps around 4pm, we invite you join us downtown at the apothecary for lavender cookies and lavender lemonade. Come celebrate with us. There is no ticket, no registration, and no catch. Just come.

A Note from Marion

It has been a big week for Bloomfield. A meeting with our bankers to sign SBA paperwork, another with our contractor, and just like that, the final restoration phase is about to begin. I have been working toward this for longer than I can easily explain. I am grateful beyond words for the community that has supported us, shopped with us, and believed in what we are building here. August 11 feels like a beginning. I hope you will be part of it.

With warmth,
Marion, Bloomfield Schoolhouse Lavender
