The Chai Collection is our fall line, made once and not repeated. Seven pieces in all, built around a single scent: our own lavender blended with real chai spice.
This is the guide to what is in it, what you can buy on its own, and what only comes in the box.
The scent
Most seasonally scented skincare uses a fragrance oil built to smell like chai. Ours does not. The scent comes from actual spice oils: cinnamon bark, cardamom, clove, nutmeg, anise, and vanilla, blended with lavender grown on our farm.
You can read it on the labels. Every bottle in the line says Fields in Autumn under the name.
The tea is the exception, and deliberately so. More on that below.
Lavender Chai Lip Balm, $6
Twelve ingredients, no fillers. Shea butter, cocoa butter, avocado oil, and beeswax, made by hand at our apothecary in LaGrange.
The tube is 0.3 oz, which is double a standard lip balm. Most tubes you have bought are 0.15. It comes in plastic-free paperboard.
Lavender Chai Body Wash, $15
Argan, coconut, and avocado oils blended into the base along with aloe. It lathers well and rinses clean without leaving skin tight.
The scent behaves differently here than anywhere else in the line. It lifts in the steam while you are in the shower, then settles as you dry off. Eight ounces in a glass pump bottle.
Lavender Chai Lotion, $15
The everyday piece of the collection. Conditioning rather than heavy, with aloe, allantoin, and vitamins A, D, and E, so it sinks in clean instead of sitting on the skin.
This is the one to keep by the kitchen sink through October, when hands start to go dry. Eight ounces, same glass pump bottle as the body wash.
Lavender Chai Tea, $10
Blended by hand by Amy Frost at Everyday Herbal, here in LaGrange. She started with high quality Assam black tea and infused it with real Madagascar vanilla beans, a step she does by hand because there is no shortcut that tastes the same. Then cassia cinnamon, freshly ground cardamom, white peppercorn, and real orange zest.
The lavender is ours, Royal Velvet, grown at Bloomfield Schoolhouse and dried on the farm.
Note that this is a different spice blend from the skincare. The tea shares cinnamon, cardamom, and vanilla with the rest of the line, then goes its own way with orange and peppercorn. It is also a black tea, so it has caffeine. This is a morning cup, not a bedtime one.
Three pieces you can only get in the box
The candle, the oil roller, and the room spray are not sold separately. They exist only inside The Chai Harvest Box.
Lavender Chai Candle, 4 oz. Poured by Lindsay McDonald at Lighthearted Candle Company in the same scent as the rest of the line.
Lavender Chai Oil Roller, .33 fl oz. Eight ingredients. Avocado oil carrying the lavender and the six spice oils, with no alcohol, so the scent does not flash off the way most roll-ons do. Made by hand at our apothecary. It fits a coat pocket.
Lavender Chai Linen and Room Spray, 4 fl oz. Lavender hydrosol from our fields carrying the same spice blend. For sheets, a front room before company arrives, or a car on a cold morning.
The Chai Harvest Box, $80
All seven pieces, packed in shred with a handwritten note, ready to give or to keep.
Body wash and lotion for morning and evening, a roller for the hours in between, a lip balm for the wind, a room spray for the sheets and the front room, a candle for after dark, and a tea for the pot on Sunday morning.
We are making 100 this season. When they are gone, they are gone until next fall.
